On my way home I called my closest friends to tell them I was leaving tomorrow to work on a movie with Jackie Chan! They all went crazy for me! When I got home I was surprised to find them there all waiting! I can’t explain how happy I was to be able to share this moment with my closest friends. My friends have always been an important part of my life and an important part of me. I’ve always believed that we are who we choose to surround ourselves with, and I’m happy to say that I’ve got a pretty awesome group of friends!
We took a few pictures and I told them everything that had happened as I packed. My friend even created a new email account for this momentous occasion. It was chillinwitjackiechanindublin@hotmail.com or something like that. He sent out an email to all of my friends telling them what had happened. (on a side note when I got back a month later I remember I couldn’t wait to read all of my friend’s responses but there was just one problem: neither I nor any of my friends remembered the password we had set on the account! Stupid friends! So all of the emails were lost in the vast expanse we call the internet! Oh well! Thankfully some of my brighter friends emailed my regular account to express their congratulations!)
(Front row from left to right: my good friends, Adam, Kash, Me, and Vasu, and Shun in the back row – the night before! And yes, that is a Dragonball Z poster on my wall next to the air conditioner!)
It was getting late and as much as I enjoyed my friends’ company, I had to get to bed – tomorrow was going to be the biggest day of my life! I bid my friends farewell with a “man hug” to each of them and went to bed.
The morning couldn’t come soon enough. I must’ve slept a few hours at most! My uncle had come over to drive my mother, my sister, and myself down to the Four Seasons. My father and younger brother were actually in China for the summer so they still had no idea what had happened! Thankfully my uncle arrived EARLY so I wasn’t stressing out like I was yesterday!
As we pulled up to the Four Seasons I remember feeling incredibly calm. It was weird, here I was on the brink of the biggest moment of my life and everything was just so…serene. I think it was partially because I was in shock and maybe having an emotional overload – so much so that my brain couldn’t process what was actually happening and the only thing I felt was this wave of relaxed clarity as if I had the secret to life. I quickly snapped out of it when my sister yelled, “Oh my god!”
The momentary bubble of clarity I had burst in an instant as I saw Jackie and everyone walking towards us! They had just come out of the elevator with all of their luggage and were making their way to the doors where we were standing. My uncle, mother, and sister seemed really nervous. They were just as star struck as I was when I first saw Jackie walk into that studio two days earlier. Any doubts that they had in their mind or notion that I might be playing a prank on them were immediately resolved. Here he was! Walking towards my family and me!
